Nick Kelly was born and raised in the Napa Valley. He worked for his parents' catering company throughout his youth and young adult life before attending CIA (Hyde Park). He completed his externship at Martini House in St Helena, CA, where he was offered a permanent position after graduating. He worked his way through the stations before being promoted to Sous Chef.

After the closure of the beloved restaurant, he accepted a position as the Chef de Cuisine at barbacco eno trattoria in San Francisco's Financial District. After a four-year tenure, he departed for a three month trip throughout Italy where he worked in 5 different restaurants and soaked up the vast differences in regional cuisine throughout the country.


In 2018, he opened Altovino in San Francisco's Nob Hill neighborhood, where he continues to serve as the executive chef.
